Description

Belt conveyors are subject to damage (longitudinal belt rips) mainly through the impact of foreign objects; the loading and discharging areas being the most commonly endangered points.The BRMS-LSRS allows the monitoring of these areas and the minimizing of belt damage as a function of the Belt Sensor (Inductive loop and/or SmartWire) spacing. The belt rip monitoring system BRMS-LSRS is installed at the endangered points on the conveyor system. The system detects Loops and/or SmartWires embedded in the belt. The intelligent receiver unit is able to capture all different types of inductive loops, SmartWires and RFID-Tags embedded in the belt. The BRMS-LSRS can easily be integrated into the existing System-/ Plant infrastructure. The transmission of the locally analyzed measurement data, settings and system parameters is provided through MODBUS by WiFi and RS485.


Function

The signal transmitted by the transmitter unit is linked up to the receiver unit via the passing intact conductor loop. A SmartWire passing the Transmitter and Receiver Unit sends a unique identification and status of the SmartWire to the Receiver unit. A combination of an inductive loop and SmartWire is called SmartLoop and provides dissimilar redundancy as both single belt sensors must indicate a rip status. The embedded Reference Tags provide an explicit point of reference throughout the complete belt. During a learn cycle the system identifies the position of each embedded belt sensor related to the point of reference.

Description

Belt conveyors are subject to damage (longitudinal belt rips) through the impact of foreign objects; the loading and dis- charging areas being the most commonly endangered points. The BRMS-WSR allows the monitoring of these areas in any belt type. The monitoring principle is based on identifying changes in the belt width caused by belt rips. The measuring principle for belt rip monitoring includes identification of the belt position (belt misaglignment). The BRMS-WSR can be integrated into the existing system communication. Various interfaces are available for transmitting locally evaluated measuring data and for setting and reading the device parameters.








Function

The belt rip monitoring system BRMS-WSR identifies inadmissible (positive or negative) changes in belt width which are interpreted by the control unit as blet rips. The belt width is captured via the axial deflection of the belt position sensors. An RFID-tag installed in the belt acts as synchronization point. The synchronization tag ist captured by the RFID-unit. The distance impulses are captured by the sensor twin idler. Together with the values of the belt position sensors, this information ist stored in the control unit following the learning process as belt width profile. In the monitoring mode, the learned belt width profile and the current belt width are continuously compared with each another. The tolerance limits between the learned profile and the current belt width can be separately parameterized for positive and negative deviations. The chassis serves the ideal arangement of the components and contributes to the overall simple installation of the BRMS-WSR system.

The belt rip monitoring system BRMS-LS is installed at the endangered points on the belt system. It identifies intact con- ductor loops and sends this information to the control unit. The intelligently designed transmitter and receiver units are able to capture different types of conductor loops within a belt con- veying system. The BRMS-LS can be integrated into the existing system communication. Various interfaces are available for transmitting locally evaluated measuring data and for setting and reading the device parameters.




Function

The signal transmitted by the loop sensor is linked up to the loop sensor receiver via the passing intact conductor loop and communicated as an analogue value (loop quality) to the con- trol unit. The loops are then allocated to fixed positions on the belt conveyor by means of the distance pulse generator. The loop sequence function on the belt conveyor is determined by two learning modes: The loops can be monitored for maximum loop distance during the “Learning” process. The chassis serves the accommodation and useful alignment of the components and contributes to the overall simple installation of the BRMS-LS belt rip monitoring device.
